SEVEN: Open space:
Over the six days, how else could we give of ourselves, share our dreams, aspirations, skills and unique personalities? Open Space sessions provided an answer to this. In Open Space, people offer an activity at the regular Open Space market place. This may be as simple as a walk in the countryside or it may be a skill such as a massage or meditation technique; an exploration of a theory or a subject close to one’s heart (or head); a workshop, dream or need one would like fulfilled. Activities offered are then posted with a time and place and people sign up for the activity or they do not. Attendance and participation in Open Space sessions are governed by four principles and one law: 1. Whoever comes are the right people. 2. Whenever it starts is the right time. 3. Whatever happens is the only thing that could happen. 4. When it’s over, it’s over. The Law of two feet: If you find yourself in a situation where you are not contributing or learning, move somewhere where you can.
EIGHT: Everything is part of the process!
Last but not least, 6 day facilitating ourselves events are magical, unpredictable experiences where gifts come in unexpected ways at unexpected times. The magic may happen for you in the Circle or a particular open space session but it may also pop into your dream one night. It may come out of a small group session or a chat with the assistant at the local shop when you are buying food for a shared meal. Exactly what you need in the moment may be given to you by someone in the circle or by the swimmer you find yourself lapping with on your early morning trip to the local pool. Someone may offer just the session you want in open space or you may have an absolute blast cooking with your small group.
